Little Knitted Stars - About us.

My name is Kate, I have a degree and a masters degree in Textile Design from the home of textiles, Manchester. After a career lecturing in Knitted Textiles at UMIST and The University of Manchester, I set up Little Knitted Stars, fully utilising my design skills and fulfilling my passion for creating vibrant, modern knitted accessories which are the perfect gifts for all generations.I am passionate about what I create, and I personally handcraft each piece, using my key eye for detail to ensure the design of the product and quality of the finish is perfect.

Little Knitted Stars' accessories are perfect finishing touches to an outfit  - like my company name, they are little knitted stars to help you shine! I create unique, contemporary, premium quality machine knitted accessories. The hats, scarves and snoods for men, women or children are ideal gifts and come gift wrapped in tissue and twine, so are ready to gift. Little Knitted Stars' products feature geometric patterning in a variety of timeless shades, and are knitted in 100% British spun, high quality merino lambswool.

From initial sketches, I design and hand punch original punchcard patterns. I choose from a palette of lambswool yarns, and knit the products on my domestic knitting machines. There are no computers involved - the whole design and creation process is completed by hand using vintage knitting technology. The products are then washed, finished, packaged and sent out to you from my Manchester studio. There is very little waste produced with my products as the panels are created to shape, therefore following my environmentally friendly ethos. Moreover the premium lambswool can last for years so would not need replacing as quickly as cheaper synthetic alternatives.

When you receive a piece of lambswool knitwear from LIttle Knitted Stars, you know that it has been designed and created by an maker with the passion and knowledge to produce a timeless, lasting accessory.
